Though my undergraduate degree is in Creative Writing, I
quickly approached writing from the perspective of a professional journalist
after learning from career sports journalist Alan Natali at California University of Pennsylvania. Years later, My writing style is still built on process, technique,
subject matter research, and audience research. I know how to adjust the way I
write to suit the target audience, and I know how to conduct scholarly research
and face-to-face interviews.

The Black Sigil: Blade
of the Exiled is a turn-based RPG developed for the Nintendo DS by
Canada-based Studio Archcraft. I was 19 when a member of the Studio Archcraft
team saw a sample of my writing online and offered me my first paid writing
contract. I developed a portion of the dialogue for player characters,
non-player characters, and populated towns with NPCs. The game was officially
released in 2009.
Fight! Magazine exploded onto the MMA scene with
high-quality photography and content rich issues. The presentation was slicker
than anything else on the market, and the magazine quickly established
dominance over its competition. For my part, I queried the Editor-in-Chief with
a story idea and was invited to contribute regularly to the magazine.

Ultimate MMA Magazine, formerly known as Ultimate Grappling,
was the original MMA magazine and was the primary source for MMA news in a
world that had not yet made the transition to going online for videos and for
breaking coverage. As an undergraduate, I queried the Editor-in-Chief of
Ultimate MMA with a story idea and went on to write multiple articles for the
magazine, one of which was a two-part cover story on UFC Champion BJ Penn.

The Escapist is a well-trafficked online video game news
site. When I saw an upcoming martial arts themed week on their editorial
calendar, I sent in a proposal that was later accepted. The article was featured
in one of their weekly issues.
